Term 2, 2010
Change in teaching staff– Jane Pritchard is our new
Senior Teacher, and teacher in room 26.
Camp went well at the end of term 1. We had
approximately 120 children and many supportive parents with us out at the
Raglan Christian Camp. We were there for three days, two nights taking part in
a range of activities the camp offers including BMX, Flying Fox, Burma
Trail, Archery, Air Rifles, Confidence Course, Swimming, Sand Sculpture, and we
even managed to pop in a little April Fools joke on the last day. We’d like to
thank you so much for your support which enabled us to keep the costs to
families as low as possible.
Cycle Training – Bigfoot Adventures from Auckland have
been with us from the 2nd day of term. They are taking our classes
through cycling and road safety in 7 1 ½ hour sessions.
Skool Stars – classes have begun preparing for this
with class singing and groups working out their dance choreography.
Numeracy – we have started with probability and number
knowledge for the first 3 weeks this term, then heading back into cross-grouped
numeracy groups when timetables get back to normal.
Literacy – there’s been a lot of writing happening –
letters and recounts
Spelling programmes – elements of the Chunk Check Cheer
course programme are being implemented in our rooms.
Our Inquiry Topic this term is going to be Extreme
Sports – with a Science and Technology base.
Looking forward to seeing you all throughout the term,
From the Year 6 Team.
